With fall right around the corner, rustic and vintage weddings are in full swing. From DIY weddings to Vintage Chic, this has been a hug trend for the past several years. One reason Rustic weddings are so popular is because there are so many ways to interpret the theme, as shown in the video above. Both brides wanted their engagement pictures to reflect the rustic theme of the weddings they were planning. Even with similar themes, their individual styles shine through. Today brides are taking this theme and making it fun, elegant, chic, and reflective of their personal styles.
The secret to making this theme amazing is in the details. Sounds easy enough, right? Well as any former bride can tell you, with the world wide web at our fingertips, planning can easily become overwhelming. Don’t start wailing and rendering your bridal garments in frustration quite yet…below are 5 Steps that will help get things organized and prevent you from becoming frustrated.
Step 1 – Choose your venue
Don't forget to check with your city's community centers. Not all of them were meant for bingo night, and they can be the best bang for your buck! Pictured below is the community center in Citronelle, Alabama. With its stone accents and gazebo, the center is a great choice for local brides. Step 2 – Choose your vintage wedding colors
There are no do’s and don’ts as far as color choice is concerned. Generally, a light color pallet is chosen; soft, natural colors. Vineyards and farms are great locations that lend themselves to muted, earthy tones. However, don’t feel like you *have* to decorate with pastels, if your location is on a mountain, with bright green trees and ultra blue skies.
Step 3 – Create your inspiration board
Pinterest is a treasure trove of ideas and easy to organize ideas on your boards.
(Hint: "Pinterest" is a link!)
Step 4 – Choose your decor items
Once again, there are no hard and fast rules for decorating a rustic wedding. They can range from pinecones and tree stumps, to burlap and lace, to vintage heirlooms passed down from the bride’s great-grandmother.
Step 5 – Have Fun!
The sky is the limit! Sure, there are tons of decisions to make when planning your wedding--but don't forget to have fun every step of the way!
